Summer Self-care Checklist
When the days get longer and the weather gets warmer, it can be easy to abandon your self-care routine. When we think of self-care, we often think of long warm baths by candlelight and cosy nights snuggled on the sofa; all things we absolutely love! But sadly, those acts of self-care are often last on the list when we’re making the most of the longer days.
One thing we do know is that self-care can take many forms. Its literal definition is ‘the practice of protecting one's own well-being and happiness’ a belief that sits at the heart of everything we do at Aery. So, we’re here to share with you our summer self-care checklist! The list is there for you to tick off this season to make sure you’re showing yourself some love throughout the busyness of summer.
Stay hydrated
We all know that drinking water is important, but even more so in the summer when it gets warmer. Staying hydrated is key to regulating your body temperature, as well as helping with digestion, skin health and energy. It’s recommended that we should be drinking between 6-8 cups of water a day, or maybe more if it’s an especially hot day. If keeping hydrated is something you struggle with, we find that having a reusable bottle with us at all times makes it much easier to stay hydrated. We’re also loving BetterYou’s new Magnesium Waters in their 3 refreshing flavours.
Keep moisturised
We all want smooth, summer-ready skin, right? Not only does looking after your skin make you feel-good, but keeping moisturised helps to maintain your skin’s natural barrier which prevents skin dehydration and damage. Our body washes and lotions are packed full of skin-loving ingredients such as Vitamin E, which is known for helping with skin hydration. It also aids in healing damaged skin (from sunburn or other irritations) and reducing inflammation. Not only are our bath & body goodies kind to your skin, they also smell amazing!
Prioritise your sleep
Our sleep schedules can be thrown out of sync in the summer months, with the days being longer than we’re used to. Our body’s natural clocks are usually in tune with the rising and setting of the sun, so it’s only natural that our sleep is disrupted when the sunrise and sunset times change.
Make sure you’re paying extra attention to your evening routine and prioritise the things that help you get your best night’s sleep. Scent is such a great way to signal to your brain and body that it’s time to unwind, so why not try a dreamy pillow spray, aromatherapy oil or sleep scented candle?
Explore new places
Summer is the best time to explore new places. The days are lighter for longer, which is perfect for day trips to places you’ve never been before. Not only is having a stroll around somewhere new a great way to get your steps in, but having a change in scenery can help give you a much-needed reset and spark your creativity. Not to mention the wellbeing benefits that come with spending time outdoors! And you can even scent your day trips with our Pulse Point Roll Ons that are perfect for taking on-the-go.
Do the things you love
We all know that doing things we love can have a positive impact on our wellbeing; releasing those feel good hormones that help to reduce stress and boost your mood. And with the days being longer in summer, it’s the perfect time to break away from your daily routine and make time for yourself.
Whether that’s spending more time outdoors, making plans with family and friends or embracing your hobbies, make sure you’re finding pockets of joy for yourself this summer.
